Safety Concerns for Paintball

Paintball is a fast growing hobby that is enjoying more popularity today than ever. With more people coming to the game each day, it is important that the safety concerns over the sport are dealt with properly. Knowing the best practices to have a fun and safe game are very important. It is also important to make sure that you have the best safety gear that you can buy.

First, let us consider the safety aspects of the game regarding the markers. The guns fire the balls at a very high rate of speed, and they provide a very painful sting when they hit. This means that you never want to aim your marker at another player’s face. Even though they will be wearing safety gear, which is detailed later, you want to get into the habit of keeping your marker pointed away from their face.

Second, the safety gear is important. The mask was already touched on above, but it bears repeating. You want to make sure that you always wear a mask when you are playing the game. One accident can cause serious injury. Other equipment that you may want to have while playing paintball includes a chest protector and elbow and knee pads. The pads can keep your tender joints from suffering too much damage when hit by a paintball, and they are great for when you are crawling around on the hard ground.

Third, you need to consider the safety of the field on which you are playing. The commercial fields will have their own rules and officials, but the woods behind your house are another story. Make sure that you check the area for any potential hazards before people come over to play.

It might even be a good idea to keep a first aid kit on hand. Chances are that you will never need to use it, but having some bandages there for the little scrapes and cuts that might occur from trekking through the fields is always a good idea. Make sure that everyone has plenty of fuel too. Some protein bars and plenty of water in the field with you are a great way to keep the game going without having to stop just so everyone can rehydrate.

Paintball is not a dangerous game as long as you take the time to prepare your safety measures. Get out into the field and have fun!
